Why
Hickory? Why Marietta?

The Reason:
- It's simple.
Nothing, but NOTHING
has the
feel of a hickory putter shaft.
- No, we're not
saying that everyone should switch
back to hickory golf shafts. When it comes to full-swing
clubs, steel and graphite are clearly superior. But when it
comes to "touch," you simply can not beat hickory. The best
way I can describe the feel is "buttery smooth." It's almost
like the shaft is ALIVE which, of course, unlike steel and
graphite—it once was.
The
ALL
NEW Marietta Hickory Shaft
- In
June, 2006, Marietta Golf Products announced
that it had re-designed it's famous "Pusch Ridge" hickory putter shaft.
The new model, called the Avanti, will be
slightly thinner throughout, and have a more cylindrical profile (i.e.
less taper) at the tip end. This will cause the shaft to play
a bit stiffer (i.e. less whip), especially with the newer, heavier,
putter heads.
- Even
though the shaft has a
slightly different profile, it will STILL have the same magnificent
Pusch Ridge finish.
If
you wish to purchase one of the older-style shafts—either
finished or un-finished—please drop Tom Grundner an e.mail
with
your request. Send it to: tmg@en.com
(Sorry
for the
inconvenience, but at this point we need to standardize on one shaft
for a while; and we decided on the finished (only) version of the new
design.)
And
More:
-
All
Marietta
hickory shafts are made from hand selected West Virginia
and Western Pennsylvania "sidehill" hickory.
-
They
then
undergo an EIGHT STEP process of lathing, sanding, staining and
finishing. It takes four days to complete a single shaft.
-
Each
shaft
is spine-aligned before it leaves the shop. If installed
correctly (i.e. label up) the shaft will have considerably more
accuracy and consistancy than with an un-aligned shaft.
These
shafts normally retail for $30 or more
We are selling them for a limited time for
$14.95
each
(plus $4.05
shipping anywhere in the US)
